12/13: A CHRISTMAS COMEDY AND SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE AT THE MILL

           Tickets: Children $5, Adults $8   Special Rate for groups of five $6 per person

 

TRI-COUNTY STUDENT SHORT STORY WRITING CONTEST RULES:

Eligibility:

¨Students must be in 7-12 grade, and reside in one of these countries: Montmorency, Presque Isle, or

Alpena.

¨Students may attend school outside the county, and the school may be public, private, parochial, charter, or home

 school.

Entries:

¨Each must have a cover page with the following student information:

Name and complete Address

Phone Number and E-Mail if available

Title of Short Story and Number of Words

¨Copies will not be returned, unless author sends an SASE (Self Addressed Stamped Envelope)

¨Do not include the author’s name anywhere on the Short Story itself.

¨Do include a title page with the name of the Short Story only.

¨Entries may be typewritten and single-spaced or written in clear longhand with the title of the story and page numbers in the top left-hand corner of each page.

¨Entries accepted between December 1, 2014 and February 28, 2015, (Postmark by February 28th)

¨All entries need to be mailed to : Contest, Brush Creek Mill, P.O. Box 344, Hillman, Michigan 49746

¨There is no entry fee!

Manuscripts:

¨Fictional Stories may be 2,000 words or less.

¨Stories may be on any subject, in any prose style.

Judging:

¨Stories will be judged on: Creativity, content, Characterization, Grammar and Spelling

If you write your story in any computer program, please run a spell check!!!

¨Brush Creek Writers reserves the right to reject any and all works that it deems unsatisfactory in content or language.

¨Brush Creek Writers will do all judging between March 1-March 31.

Prizes:

Prizes will be awarded at a ceremony in May, date to be determined.

First place: $200.00     Second Place: $150.00     Third Place: $75.00     Fourth Place: $50.00     Fifth Place: $25.00

The goal of Brush Creek Writers is to encourage students in grades 7-12 to explore their creative writing abilities.
